SUPERVISION & CLINICAL MENTORSHIP
Sex Therapy Supervision & Clinical Mentorship for Canadian Therapists
Training gives you the frameworks. But it can’t prepare you for every case.
When cases go sideways, presenting concerns get complex, or you’re not sure how to apply what you’ve learned – that’s when good supervision and mentorship makes the difference.
Support That Holds the Whole Therapist
Most therapists reach a point where training alone isn’t enough.
You’ve done the coursework. You have the theory. But when a client brings something unexpected into the room, or a case becomes more complex than the frameworks anticipated – you need a thinking partner, not a textbook.
That’s what supervision and mentorship at Northern Lights offers. Whether that’s formal supervision for clinicians on the AASECT certification path, or clinical mentorship for therapists who want an experienced sounding board for their work.
This isn’t a box-ticking exercise. It’s a space to think carefully about your work – to bring the cases that are keeping you up at night, to examine your assumptions and blind spots, and to grow into a more confident, reflective, and ethically grounded clinician.
Sessions are warm but substantive. Supportive, and challenging in the right measure.
What You Can Expect to Work On
Complex cases involving sexuality, relationships, trauma, and identity
Countertransference – understanding how your own experiences and emotions show up in the room
Your values, assumptions, and biases around sex and sexuality
Ethical and inclusive practice across diverse identities and presentations
Integrating theory and frameworks into real clinical work
Building toward AASECT certification, for those on that path
Who Supervision Is For
Our supervision and mentorship is open to Canadian mental health professionals at any stage of their career – from clinicians just beginning to work with sexual concerns, to experienced therapists seeking a thoughtful space for consultation and growth.
It’s a good fit if you’re …
A registered counsellor, psychotherapist, social worker, or allied health professional integrating sexuality into your practice
A newer clinician looking for mentorship and guidance as you build your skills in sex and relationship therapy
An experienced therapist wanting reflective consultation on complex or challenging cases
A clinician working toward AASECT certification who needs qualified supervision hours
Anyone who values accountability, depth, and continued growth in their professional practice
How It Works
Northern Lights offers two types of support – and it’s worth understanding the difference.
Formal ″supervision″ is a specific clinical relationship – one in which the supervisor holds oversight responsibility for your work. At Northern Lights, this is available exclusively for clinicians working toward AASECT certification, where that structure is required.
For everyone else, we offer clinical consultation and mentorship – the same quality of expert guidance and reflective support, without the formal supervisory structure. You remain responsible for your own caseload. Diana or Ciara are your thinking partners.
Both are available in individual and group formats.
One-on-one sessions give you dedicated space to work through cases, develop your clinical thinking, and receive direct mentorship tailored to your practice. Available as one-off sessions or on an ongoing basis.
Individual Sessions
Diana Sadat — $225 per session
Diana is currently at capacity for ongoing individual work, but has availability for one-off consultation and mentorship sessions.
Ciara Moran — $180 per session
Ciara is currently accepting new clients for ongoing individual supervision and consultation.
Group Sessions
Group sessions with Diana offer the added richness of peer learning – a space to hear how other clinicians are navigating similar challenges and develop your thinking in community.
The format is open – join as many or as few sessions as you need.
